Pierre de Coubertin

The other day, I was called into the office to see the school’s sports coordinator. I was there with L and J, both of whom were also called. We were encouraged to apply for the Pierre de Coubertin sportsmanship award. I found it amusing that they couldn’t work out which boys to pick!

And so today, I spent a while filling out the form and creating the piece of literature and artwork that goes along with it. I wrote a pretty cheesy poem that doesn’t deserve to be seen on the Internet. I amused myself by researching a little about the Olympic games. I find it intriguing that the modern Olympic games is modeled on what the Romans participated to display their strength and agility.

The underlying message of my poem is that the Olympic spirit still lives and will do so for a long time to come due to the universal values of honor and pride that bring us together. Yes sounds super glorified and cheesy but I think it is true to a large extent.

I drew a picture to accompany the poem. Initially, I settled on drawing a Roman next to a modern athlete to show the progress through paralleling. But then, after a suggestion from F, I decided to change the modern man into a modern woman. I think it really demonstrates the progress that we should celebrate. I tried as hard as I could to make the woman seem as resilient as possible.

Tomorrow shall be a day unlike today’s day-long procrastination session. I will prepare for my English essay and perhaps revisit economics after a long two week neglecting.

A la prochain.

Vietnamese pork rolls

Awww yum. I just finished eating a Vietnamese pork roll and god that stuff is heavenly. I don’t know what they do to the carrots but they’re seriously the highlight of the roll along with a good bread roll and the whole patay-mayonnaise combo :P

I presented my English Extension speech today which went down pretty well. I was able to answer Mr. M’s questions with relative clarity which is a plus! After that speech I felt a brick fly off my shoulder. Now all I’ve got to do is focus on English and eonomics for the weekend!

I need to be searching around for a formal dress around this time too. Perhaps after English.

Mmmmm *froths at the mouth*

Temporary liberty

FREE (for the time being)

Exam period over. So glad I did my viva voce today as opposed to tomorrow because I’d still be stressing about something that proved to be so chill! Watched ‘The Hunger Games’ with the gals afterwards for a post-exam period celebration. It was pretty good but I’m assuming the book will be loads better. Had green tea ice-cream at Mizuya after the film which was refreshing.

And now I’m watching consecutive episodes of Kitchen Cabinet. Tomorrow, I’m going to finish my modern notes which have been slowly piling up over the exam period. That’s right, I know how to party.
